Exhibition catalog accompanying the triennial exhibition of contemporary art. Commissioned by Gallery de Ziener. Awarded with the Plantin Moretus Price 2009.
Engagement with art goes beyond simply purchasing a catalog—you must carefully glue the photographs into it yourself, creating a moment of artistic stillness. Yet, the concept of this book originated from a practical challenge. Since photographs of the artistic interventions could only be taken a few days before the opening, an “empty” book was designed, printed, and bound in advance.
The plastic cover serves as a soft shell, wrapping seamlessly around the thickened book once the photographs are added. The gold spine, in contrast, introduces a deliberate anachronism. The foreword was written by the curator and art critic Luk Lambrecht.
