Info

Student perspectives on the graphic design canon. Edited by Hugo Puttaert.
This is a separate booklet containing only the text from the book. It is available in Dutch and English. In twelve essays, Hugo Puttaert provides an incisive analysis of the current state of graphic design and visual culture without shying away from controversy.

In a culture driven by speed, visibility, and algorithms, what does it mean to design today? Unfollow the Leader explores the evolving role of graphic designers in a world shaped by digital platforms, economic forces, and artificial intelligence. Developed in an educational context and grounded in student work, the book explores the tensions between craft and technology, autonomy and dependency, and tradition and disruption.
Moving between history and contemporary practice, the book argues that the essence of design lies not in form but in attitude—the willingness to question what seems self-evident.
